Work in progress

The most common question Phillip is asked is: what are you currently working on?

As ever, several things. He has just finished editing the memoirs of General Alexander Orlov, the KGB boss who defected to the US in 1938. He has also written the introduction and epilogue for the book, called Alexander Orlov - The March of Time, Reminiscences, which is now available from St. Ermin's Press. Three different books have also been updated. A new edition of The First Casualty featuring an extra chapter that covers the recent war in Iraq was out at the beginning of November 2003. This is especially timely for two reasons.

First, the recently completed and controversial Hutton Inquiry into the death of UK scientist Dr David Kelly (Dr Kelly informed journalists of doubts he had over one of the dossiers the UK government provided as justification for going to war). And secondly, the inquiries announced both in the US and UK into how the security services decided that Saddam Hussein possessed dangerous quantities of "weapons of mass destruction" but none have yet to be found almost a year after the war officially ended.

An updated version of Kim Philby: KGB Masterspy was out October 2003 - as well as an updated paperback version of The Second Oldest Profession.
